Walking through Twente

In Twente, walking is called strolling. A concept. Strolling has a slightly different dimension than walking, as it encompasses a sense of slowing down. From Theaterhotel in the heart of the center, the Gravenallee leads walkers and cyclists straight into nature. There, after about one and a half kilometers, the typical Twente coulisse landscape unfolds: meadows, rolling fields, the open spaces, interspersed with hedgerows, ditches, streams, and winding paths. Among them, you have a remarkable view of the typical Twente farms.

The Theaterhotel offers various hikes that take you along beautiful monuments and nature areas. The following hikes are available for free at the reception.

Water Path Hiking Route

Walk with company or wander alone through the watery surroundings. The Water Path Hiking Route takes you past various remarkable sights of Almelo. The walk takes about two hours. Or longer if you sit down on a terrace in between to recover from the impressions. The route starts at the Theaterhotel and your route map is available at the reception.

Art Route Almelo

With the art route Almelo presents a walking route that takes you past inspiring, remarkable, challenging art objects in public spaces. Albert Einstein already said it; logic takes you from a to b, imagination takes you everywhere. The Art Route Almelo is available at the reception. If you want to see all 29 artworks, the walk takes about an hour and a half.

Heritage Route Walking Route Almelo

Almelo presents one hundred years of architecture in the center of Almelo. The Heritage Route is a walk along a selection of beautiful, remarkable, and interesting buildings from different construction periods after 1900.
